Many of our animals derive their names from peculiarities in
their neonate patterns. This animal was no exception. Jig was
named for the rather abstract pattern of a dancing man that was
present on the head (see the hatchling photo to the left). Jig
appears as though she may have the most complete stripe out
of all of the babies in the 2002 Haley -
Linnaeus clutch.
Jig is sibling to Floyd, and therefore
has a 66% chance of carrying the gene for albinism. Needless to
say, she will
play a role in the development of the albino project.
