With a design team led by Custom Sounds Store Manager Chris Burrow and Installation Managers Bob Schumaker and Matt Graef, the first thing to do was to completely disassmble the interior of the car. Just about everything but the dash cover came out, carpet, door panels, console, seats, kick panels. Once disassembled and laying on the floor the site was enough to make any self respecting vette owners heart skip a couple beats. But once out the serious design work could begin.

While the staff pulled the interior of the car apart in the background, Chris, Bob, Matt & I talked about the kind of music to be played on the system and the need for technologies such as GPS, iPhone, and Bluetooth. Video was important too, but not for watching DVD's. Backing up is always problematic in a car like the Corvette, but in racing a rear view of the cars behind would be important as well, as visibility through the rear window would be marginal on the track.

We talked about the need to be able to still mount the roof panel in its storage space in the hatch and yet still find room to pack in the subwoofers. In the end we decided to do a show caliber system, yet remain tasteful, with a custom fiberglass enclosure in the rear, and a countersunk amp rack.

With the car in pieces, with questions answered, and with calculations completed, Custom Sounds specialists set off on their various tasks.
