:i caught my grey during the daytime...he was asleep on some green stuff in my moms garden and got spooked while i mowed the lawn passed him...i can hear them at night too but can't find them...i have a spring peeper narrowed down to one square foot of grass, calls from that exact spot every night, still can't see him

We once found a gray sitting and calling in between a rock ledge from a waterfall on a minature golf course. This was at night even! The only thing we had going for us is that he couldn't hear us that well with the sound of water falling over the rocks.

Our only peeper that we were able to actually see was hiding under a rotted tree when we rolled it over to look under it. Thought that was kind of odd because the whole rest of the world of peepers were out in the swamps doing almost deafening trilling! We looked an looked and NEVER saw one of them! And as soon as you make the slightest sound they all clam up for what seems like forever. Yep, those mosquitoes take over then. I think they have a deal going with them. Something like: Hey, if you won't eat too many of us mosquitoes, then we MIGHT bite the people who are trying to see you. :)
