Can I put rat mothers together?

What I have found is that usually if they are not gonna get along they start fighting just before one or the other gives birth. This isn't the crabby, "leave me along" during labor, but constant screams for a few days before. If they bicker a bit after birth I leave them. If they spend time fighting over the nest I just reach in a replace what babies I want where. I sort of referee. In a day or two they have settled right down. Like I say, depends on the rats.
