: I was recently offered several herps one of them being a "hooded" cham (Calumma cucullata) . I have been looking for pics of one and have been unable to find one. I have yet to see where one was kept as a pet, so now I am wondering if it really is a hooded or if it is someting else. Hopefully I will get to see it in a couple of days, but in the meantime does anyone have any pics or info on hoodeds?

: thanks

Calumma cucullata is an uncommon Malagasy chameleon. In late 1994/early 1995, export of this species, along with all other members of the Calumma genus and all but four members of the genus Furcifer, were banned from export by CITES. Therefore, no legal animals have left Madagascar since that point in time. It was exported prior to the ban only minimally compared to other species and imports largely failed as captives and shortly after the ban was imposed, the last of the captive animals perished. As such, I can guarantee that the animals you were offered are either misidentified, illegal or non existent. were you offered any other chameleons?
Chris
