help identifying box turtle

Answers to these can help:

Can it close up it's shell like a box turtle can?
If not, it's not a box turtle.

Is it dark in color, black or is it brownish?
Is it flat or does it have a high domed shell?

Does it have webbed feet or stumpy elephant like feet?


If it is native to your area, it could be any number of aquatic species such as a snapper or maybe a large cooter. It could also be a wood turtles as they get quite large and are patially terrestrial.
