6' by 3' is 18 square feet. The very minimum in my opinion is 10 square feet per turtle. More is better. They need room for exercise, water stations, cover, plants. The pen should be a combination of shrubs, grass and dirt. Also add rocks, logs and ground cover.

With your present pen size I would get only one turtle.

:Hey! I am planning on building an outdoor boxie pen. I heard from several people a 6ftx3ft could hold 10 turtles? Can you confirm that? Also, could the pen ground be dirt/soil ground with shrubs I plant, or must it have grass? Any info on keeping turtles would also be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
