If i were you and I wanted to get a lizard to handle I would pick one of these.
A bearded dragon,these are common so if you want a little something different try
A green water dragon.start out with a juvinile or baby first.these get 4-5 feet long(mostly tail)and if handled when young are awsome.especially adult males.
these are my oppinions.
