These were wild-caught in the high desert, three hours east of
San Diego, above Temucula ... and it was getting frosty in
August, so I'm fairly sure they normally hibernate. I've
hibernated them for the previous two winters, but for those
times I've cooled them a little more slowly, spending a week or
so in transition from warm to cool. This time, I just dropped
them into cool - I know, probably not the best, which is why I
posted my question! They are still somewhat active and seem
to be okay ... so I might have 'lucked out'. They are definitely
fat and 'happy'
