Backpacking true Australia september 1997 - october 1998
After school I didn't really know what to do, working was not a option at this moment and another study was for that moment the same story. Australia was a continent that always draw my attention and together with a friend I decided to go backpacxking true Australia for a year on a working holiday visa. On this way I was allowed to stay for a entire year in Oz and I it was legal to work for me to when I run out of money. Running out of money in Australia was not the hardest thing to do so I had various jobs bad or fun. I worked at farms were I needed to pick squash, and melons. In Sydney I worked for a company Pacific Exhibitions and builded big stands on expos. Many other good and bad jobs followed and paid for my one year Herping trip. On this page do you find a photo impression of one of the best years in my life.
If it are mammals, reptiles, marine animals or birds, the Australian fauna is like no other country in the world. Many animals are venomous and most mammals are marsupials. On this continent live more monitor species than anywere in the world.
My last job in Australia was a dreamjob for a European Snake lover like me. I was able to work for some months at the Venom Supplies facility as one of the snakekeepers/milkers and had here the opertunnity to learn more about Autralian Elapid snakes.
