      STATUS:  Uncommon

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Collin Co.:  Wylie area;  Dallas Co.:  Chalk Hill Way at Preston Rd., Spring Creek area N of Garland, and E of Kessler area;  Denton Co.:  Aubrey High School;  Tarrant Co.:  Keller area and wooded areas in Euless

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, and Tarrant

      HABITAT:  Blackland Prairie and Eastern Cross Timbers

      SUBSPECIES:  Three-toed Box Turtle [T. c. triunguis (Agassiz, 1857)].

      COMMENTS:  Reports of this species from city areas may represent escaped captives.
