TEXAS PATCHNOSE SNAKE Salvadora grahamiae Baird & Girard, 1853 

      STATUS:  Common

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Johnson Co.:  5.3 mi S of Cleburne State Park on FM 1434;  Parker Co.:  15 mi W of Fort Worth;  Somervell Co.:  near US 67 bridge over Brazos River and near jct of US 67 and FM 51;  Tarrant Co.:  3 mi SE of Wheatland, 1 mi NE of US 377 bridge over the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, and 3.4 mi S of Azle;  Wise Co.:  5.9 mi W of Chico and W side of Lake Bridgeport

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise

      HABITAT:  Western Cross Timbers and Rolling Plains

      SUBSPECIES:  Texas Patchnose Snake (S. g. lineata Schmidt, 1940)

      COMMENTS:  The Texas patchnose snake is common only in the western part of the Metroplex where rocky outcroppings occur.
