      STATUS:  Rare

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Dallas Co.:  Drainage ditches S of Malloy Bridge Rd. at the Trinity River;  Johnson Co.:  2.3 mi N of Park Rd. 21 on US 67

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Collin, Dallas, Denton, Kaufman, and Tarrant

      HABITAT:  Trinity River Bottoms

      SUBSPECIES:  Broad-banded Water Snake [N. f. confluens (Blanchard, 1923)]

      COMMENTS:  The broad-banded water snake (N. f. confluens) should be more common than these observations indicate.
