      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Collin Co.-3 mi S of Princeton, 3 mi E of Wylie, below dam of Lake Lavon, near Farmersville, and 2 mi E of Brockdale Park along Lake Lavon;  Dallas Co.:  Farmers Branch Creek, Glen Lake Country Club Lake, Seagoville area, Spring Creek area N of Garland, and Mt. Creek Lake;  Denton Co.:  1.2 mi N of Main St. and Blackjack Rd., Aubrey area, and .9 mi N !-35 on Mayhill Rd.;  Johnson Co.:  2 mi SE of Godley on Tx 171 and 9.5 mi W of Cleburne on US 67;  Kaufman Co.:  .2 mi N of Tx 243 on FM 429, 9.4 mi ESE of Tx 34 on FM 1836, and 1.1 mi NE of FM 987 on FM 148;  Parker Co.:  4 mi S Weatherford on Tx 171, 2 mi E of Aledo near Mary's Creek, .9 mi N of I-20 on FM 3325, and 2 mi W of jct Tin Top Rd. on Bethel Rd;  Tarrant Co.:  River Legacy Parks in NW Arlington, off of Waterwood in NW Arlington, below spillway at Lake Worth, Dutch Branch at US 377, Clear Fork of the Trinity River at US 377, and below Eagle Mt.       HABITAT:  permanent water in all habitat areas

      SUBSPECIES:  The yellowbelly water snake [N. e. flavigaster (Conant, 1949)] is found in the eastern part of the Metroplex and blotched water snake [N. e. transversa (Hallowell, 1852)] is found in the western part.
