TIMBER RATTLESNAKE Crotalus horridus Linnaeus, 1758               

                STATUS:  Very Rare

                LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Dallas Co.:  S of Seagoville;  Denton Co.:  back end of Lake Lewisville near Aubrey;  Ellis Co.:  near Italy;  Wise Co.:  Lyndon B. Johnson Nat'l Grasslands NW of Decatur

                DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Denton, Ellis, and Wise

                HABITAT:  Trinity River Bottoms and Western Cross Timbers

                COMMENTS:  It is unlikely that there is sufficient habitat to support a population of the timber rattlesnake unless it is in Wise County.
