COLLARED LIZARD Crotaphytus collaris (Say, 1823)   

      STATUS:  Common in western half of Metroplex

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Dallas Co.:  10 mi SW of Dallas;  Denton Co.:  4 mi SW of Aubrey;  Hood Co.:  Lipan area;  Parker Co.:  12.7 mi W of jct county Rd. 180 on US 80 and 2 mi E of Aledo near Mary's Creek;  Tarrant Co.:  Hillridge Ct. in NW Arlington, Eagle Mt. Lake dam, Silver Creek Stock Farm, and 2 mi S of Azle;  Wise Co.:  Lyndon B. Johnson Nat'l Grasslands NW of Decatur, near Flat Rock Cementary, and Sid Richardson Scout Ranch

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, and Wise

      HABITAT:  Western Cross Timbers and possibly Cedar-limestone Hills

      SUBSPECIES:  Eastern Collared Lizard [C. c. collaris (Say, 1823)]
