Rana berlandieri (Rio Grande Leopard Frog)

RIO GRANDE LEOPARD FROG Rana berlandieri Baird, 1854

      STATUS:  Uncommon

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED: None

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Somervell, and Tarrant

      HABITAT: Unknown

COMMENTS:  R. berlandieri with its closely related species, R. blairi and R. utricularia, are extremely difficult to identify in the laboratory.  Many of the specimens observed by the early members of the local Herpetological Societies may be any of the three related species.  Much data needs to be collected on the presence of these species in the Metroplex.
