      STATUS:  Rare

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Kaufman Co.:  5.9 mi S of I-20 on FM 429, 2 mi S of jct of FM 1565 on FM 986, and 6 mi S of jct of FM 1565 on FM 986

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Ellis and Kaufman

      HABITAT:  Blackland Prairie and Post Oak Belt

      COMMENTS:  The crawfish frog is probably much more common than most realize, owing to its secretive and subterranean habits.
