TEXAS TOAD Bufo speciosus Girard, 1854

      STATUS:  Abundant

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Dallas Co.:  at the Mt. Creek Lake area, the Cedar Hill area, and the Trinity bottoms at the Sylvan Rd crossing;  Johnson Co.:  4.4 mi N of Godley on FM 2435, and 4 mi S of Godley on FM 1192;  Parker Co.:  5 mi S of Aledo, 2.5 mi NNE of Aledo, 2.8 mi N of Whitt, and at Rio Brazos Estates;  Tarrant Co.:  Benbrook-Aledo Rd, along FM 1024, Old Crowley Rd, and S of Fort Worth on Old Granbury Rd at I-260

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant, and Wise.

      HABITAT:  Mesquite Grand Prairie, Fort Worth Prairie, Brazos River Bottoms, Western Cross Timbers, and cleared areas of the Trinity River Bottoms

      COMMENTS: Texas toads are most commonly encountered in May, June, and July on warm humid nights and after summer rains.
