Bufo punctatus (Red-spotted Toad)

RED-SPOTTED TOAD Bufo punctatus Baird & Girard, 1852    

      STATUS:  Uncommon

      LOCALITIES OBSERVED:  Dallas Co.:  at Mt. Lebanon Encampment S of Cedar Hill and a limestone area near upper Five Mile Creek;  Somervell Co.:  2.0 mi E Tx 220 on FM 204;  Tarrant Co.:  Silver Creek area W of Lake Worth   

      DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise

      HABITAT:  Cedar-Limestone Hills, Western Cross Timbers, and Rolling Plains

      COMMENTS:  There are no recent records for Dallas and Tarrant Counties.  Collecting in the southwestern part of the Metroplex should confirm the presence of the red-spotted toad.
