There is no fee to join CROC. The only requirement is that you submit a handwritten letter along with your name and contact information. This letter should be a letter explaining whatever you feel about your enjoyment of keeping reptiles and your feelings about the threat that this hobby might be lost to you. We could probably coach phenomenal letters from new members but we will simply leave the writing of the letters up to each individual. Our goal is more to show our numbers than to have opinion influencing essays from everyone. So write what you think and what you feel and we can add it to our growing collection. Each letter will be copied and sent to a representative in each province so that if the power of the letters is ever needed anywhere in Canada they can be at hand. These letters will be available to individuals and societies whenever they need a show of strength. Please keep your contact information on a seperate piece of paper than the letter if you wish that information only to be known to CROC. If you provide an email address in your information we will be able to send you information on reptiles related issues that may affect you or that you may be able to help out in.
The reason we want a handwritten letter is that to a city council such a letter is worth hundreds of signatures on a petition. You should write these letters as though they are going to city councillors to protest bylaws, as that is likely who will end up seeing them. Do not be afraid to send your letter. You need not list any animals you keep and you may request that your name remane private, though this makes the letter somewhat less effective.
Please send the handwritten letter as well as your name and contact info (don't forget to include your email) to:
