CROC is a group of people who wish to protect the future of herpetoculture (reptile keeping). Our goals are to fight discriminatory efforts to prevent reptile keepers from enjoying their hobby, show that reptiles can be kept healthy and safely by responsible reptile keepers, and facilitate the education of people to protect reptiles from ignorant keepers or the fearful public. CROC's main goal, however, is to protect the reptile hobby with a Canada wide banding together of reptile keepers. We are not such a minority as we used to be, we are simply scattered and unorganized. If we gather together under one banner we can show the world that we are not fringe or unusual or uncommon types of people. There is a growing mainstream of people who love reptiles and if we can prove it then those city officials who think they can ban reptiles without losing any votes will see that they are sorely mistaken. This group is not a herp society. Most of us already belong to herp societies in our own communities, and that is where our main efforts will remained focussed. As members most will never do anything but sign up and be good examples of reptile keepers. What we do by signing up for CROC is add our numbers to the core. CROC is a rallying point. A way to show ourselves as strong in numbers. It will serve as leverage in having proper laws passed which will protect reptiles but also allow the reptile keeping hobby to continue. It will be a protection if one of us is facing discrimination against them as a reptile keeper. There is strength in numbers and with CROC we will be strong.
