I had the pleasure of meeting this man in person while working out at the Broad Canyon Ranch "Bio Blitz" one semester for school. He taught me quite a bit about herpetology in the one day that I spent out with him, his wife, and associate.
I still have the small Western Diamondback Rattlesnake that I found (which had been hit by a car just before I got there) while road cruising that he preserved for me.

RIP Charlie Painter, you helped me figure out that becoming a herpetologist wasn't just a pipe dream, but something attainable.

Though I did not know this man, I know and respect his love for reptiles and amphibians for it is also mine. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, family and friends. RIP Sir, may your wife have all strength and support and soon find peace from all sorrow.
Thank you Jeff Barringer for bringing this fine mans life to light for us to know and thank you Aaron for your fine word's and shared memory. May we all wish the best for his wife at this time!
